The Relson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy of Charleston SC. has been successfully run since 1999. The head instructor and owner, Jerry Brewer, holds a brown belt under The Legendary Relson Gracie and has trained with numerous other Gracie family members as well as many of the top names in the sport including UFC Veteran Matt "The Terror" Serra and 5x World Champion Daniel Moraes!

Brewer has more than twenty years of experience training in various Martial Arts disciplines but has been hooked on Gracie Jiu-Jitsu for the last 10! He is not only an extremely experienced Instructor but is also a highly accomplished competitor taking the silver medal in the heavyweight purple belt division of the Arnold Gracie World Championships in 2004 as well as 1st place in the heavyweight advanced division in the South Carolina State Championships that same year.

Brewer has also helped coach the Relson Gracie Competition Team to 7 straight South Carolina State Team Championships. One of his proudest accomplishments however is being asked as a civilian by the U.S. Army to become certified as a Level 3 Modern Army Combatives Instructor due to his reputation and vast experience in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu!

Muay Thai Instructor Sumetra ‘Sam’ Promanee has many years of experience both teaching and fighting in Thailand. As a fighter, Sam’s record is 26-4 with 17 knockouts.
