Pedro Carvalho began his martial arts training at the age of 14. Beginning with Tae Kwon Do, he soon moved to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Pedro has trained with some of the most illustrious BJJ teachers in the world, including:

Over the years Pedro competed twelve times in state and national class competitions in Brazil, eleven times resulting in a first or second place standing. Some of these events include the 1st Copa Monte Libano De Jiu-Jitsu, 9th Copa Rio De Jiu-Jitsu, Campeonato Estadual De Jiu-Jitsu, 3rd Campeonato Atlantico Sul De Jiu-Jitsu, 1st Copa Nastra Jiu-Jitsu, and the 1st Torneio Rolls Gracie De Jiu-Jitsu.

In the United States Pedro's students have also met with success in competition and have won at such events as the 1995 Pan American Jiu-Jitsu Championships and the 1996 United States Jiu-Jitsu De Brasil Championship.
